Sonya's professional journey ignited an interest in personal development. Her children and her coaching practice have inspired her to write and publish children's books that teach the basic terms used to develop healthy emotional engagement and self-development. Concepts that are often found in religious practice. The hope is that a realization of these concepts would help in establishing an understanding that leads to mental well-being, beginning with, who is God? Her works transcend religious beliefs and focus on the little words with big meanings, faith, prayer, kindness, love, etc.

Sonya was reciting bedtime prayers with her four-year-old son, who, like many young children, asked, "Momma, Who is God?" After providing the best answer she could, she tucked him in for the night. In her reflective moments, the idea of writing a children's book emerged. This inspiration ultimately led to the publication of first book in 2015, with a revised edition and a coloring book version released in 2025.
